DTE-PLD Electric Conversion: Campus Construction

Detroit Public Lighting (PLD) has ceased operations from the City of Detroit. Detroit Edison (DTE) has been charged with converting the former PLD system. This is a multi-year project. The planning stage started three years ago. The first construction stage of this project will start shortly on our campus. This will see the installation of new concrete ductbanks, conduits and cabling to support the new DTE infrastructure to supply new power to the former PLD buildings. The buildings and areas listed below are the first stage of this project. Please refer to the linked photos for details regarding construction activities. (NOTE: Orange shaded area of photos indicate construction areas.)

DTE has begun construction in 3 main areas – Athletic Complex, PS#2/Manoogian Hall (Lodge Service Drive), and Ludington Mall.  DTE's contractor for this work will be Rauhorn.

If there are any questions, please contact Anne Vandenbussche (Project Manager) at 313.577.7663 or Larry Fodor (Energy Management Director) at 313.577.4352.

Anthony Wayne Drive - Parking and Pedestrian Detour Information

As you may know, Wayne State is constructing a residential complex that will offer more housing units and retail space along Anthony Wayne Drive.  Due to the construction, Parking Lot 41 will be closed and Parking Structure #2 will be receiving some modifications to the entrances and exits.

Starting April 22, 2017, a number of the sidewalks in the area of Anthony Wayne Drive and Kirby will be closed or narrowed and the path of travel you usually take to get across campus may be obstructed.   The utility companies will be on both the east side (along the Towers Residential Suites) and west side (along closed Parking Lot 41 and Parking Structure #5) of Anthony Wayne Drive rerouting utility lines in order to support the new housing complex.  Please follow the signage, be aware of the barricades, and be observant to stay safe.
