DTE-PLD Electric Conversion-Campus Construction

Detroit Public Lighting (PLD) has ceased operations from the City of Detroit. Detroit Edison (DTE) has been charged with converting the former PLD system. This is a multi-year project. The planning stage started three years ago. The first construction stage of this project will start shortly on our campus. This will see the installation of new concrete ductbanks, conduits and cabling to support the new DTE infrastructure to supply new power to the former PLD buildings. The buildings and areas listed below are the first stage of this project. Please refer to the linked photos for details regarding construction activities. (NOTE: Orange shaded area of photos indicate construction areas.)

DTE intends on beginning conduit construction on campus starting next week, 7/17. There are 3 main areas of work – Athletic Complex (start: 8/14/17; end: 8/25/17), PS#2/Manoogian Hall (Lodge Service Drive) (start: 7/17/17; end: 8/11/17), and Ludington Mall (start: 7/17/17; end: 8/4/17).

DTE's contractor for this work will be Rauhorn.
